Sand perch fishing around Tampa Bay
An occasional shore catch around jetties, rather than a shore-fishing staple. Sand perch are bottom fish near rocks, reefs and jetties, also over sand; the Sea Grant guide describes them as more common in the Gulf than in bays.
Also known as: Squirrelfish (local nickname)
